Long Live Local!
Throughout 2016, I will be hosting area wide events introducing not only our partners in developing a local food system in Starved Rock Country, but also many small businesses, individuals and community organizations that keep our local infrastructure solid.
The food industry is not the only sector in crisis.
While food safety feels more urgent than six years ago when I was faced with the onset of Parkinsons Disease, food security feels like the typical household income where large and seemingly successful massive companies are living paycheck to paycheck.
What would you do if you walked into the grocery store one day and all the shelves were bare? What will you give up when groceries double or triple in price in the next few years?
The upcoming Viva La Local events are stepping stones to establishing a true Cooperative. Of growers, of artisans or local advocates for a healthy local support system.
