Behold!! Asparagus!

Some of our volunteers on the farm are especially close to the detailed project we have had of saving seeds from the asparagus my father plowed into the ground when we first moved here back in 1979.

Growing asparagus from seed is a timely process, taking up to four years to establish a crown that is suitable for harvest.

I am happy to report that our little incubator patch of asparagus is happily rooting itself in beds and will stay cozy here again for 2016 before we move it down to the “Abundance” field where we are re-establishing healthy asparagus crowns.

YES!! We will have asparagus in the very near future!IMG_3277
