Ripe Peppers Galore!

In my adventures in gardening and writing my weekly column, I’ve notice a lot of people don’t realize that when you are buying a green pepper from the store, you are actually buying an ‘unripe’ pepper.

That’s right! Green peppers are actually the early fruit of sweet pepper plants that ripen to a sweeter taste as they turn shades of yellow, orange, then red.

What we love about researching top varieties for growing organically is learning about varieties like ‘Iko Iko’ an early ripe pepper that ripens to colorful shades of rich purple, vibrant red and pale yellowish green.

What a wonderful addition to our 2014 CSA!
