We are especially grateful today for hot water, a roof over our heads and mom’s home cooking as we wake up to hot breakfast. Sunday was the first time in 30 years of living in Illinois that my father took shelter in our basement. November’s ‘freak’ tornado so close to home was an abrupt reminder that anything (and YOUR WHOLE LIFE) can change on the drop of a dime.
As we sat in the drive ten seconds after pulling into our lane, Joel and I felt the jeep lift with the sudden gust of winds as a sheet of grey blinded our visibility of the Village of Grand Ridge 2 miles away. Instant surrender to the power of Mother Nature. And a welcome wake-up call to count my blessings daily and make every moment count.
For those of you interested in donating items for tornado victim relief, we are grateful to our friends Kate and Dave Gretencord of KD Creek Beef who will be driving our donations down to Washington, IL. Kids clothing, shoe (any size) and toys and color books are requested. Any cash donations we receive will be spent on prepared food and non-perishable ready to eat items along with fresh produce. Thank you in advance for your generosity.
We are GRATEFUL to be able to pay it forward~
